God's Plan, Our Call

Our God has a plan that stretches from before creation to eternity. It is a massive strategic plan that we cannot begin to understand. Because God exists outside of time, He knows the beginning, the middle, and the end of humanity’s story. His plan was executed in the very beginning, when God said, “Let there be light.” And It was ordained that Jesus, who is the Light, would come to save the world from sin and darkness. This was before man was even created. God was prepared for man’s fall. God’s plan is perfect.

​Way back at the beginning, when God created His plan, He delegated jobs and responsibilities to men and women who were to come throughout time. At their conception, He filled them with gifts they would need. And a specific call was placed on their lives. On our lives.
​

Because of the devotion of a Sunday school teacher, named Edward Kimbrell, a young man who stocked shelves in a shoe store was discipled. Dwight L. Moody stepped into his ministry that saved thousands of people on two continents. One of those souls was Wilbur Chapman. He also preached to thousands. One day a young professional ball player heard Wilbur Chapman speak. He quit baseball and went to work for Chapman. When Chapman retired from traveling and took a large church as pastor, Billy Sunday took over the speaking ministry. Because of Billy Sunday, Mordecai Ham was compelled to answer his calling. When he came to speak in Charlotte, NC, a youth named Billy Graham was converted.

We have all heard this story. Did you know that Billy Graham had adamantly vowed that he was not going to listen to that preacher? But there was supposed to be a bunch of boys going to cause trouble and Billy Graham wanted to see what would happen. Something happened all right.
​

A man received Salvation and answered God’s call on his life. 

Think it was a fluke? More than 6000 people attended his first conference. The evangelist preached to more people than any other person who ever lived. Because of radio and television, more than 2 billion people have heard the gospel from Billy Graham’s mouth. More than 2 million were saved at his crusades.

What would have happened if just one of those men had not answered the call? Not been there at just the right time? Then, God would have sent another person.

Esther 4:14- “For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
​

Esther had a choice. She didn’t have to risk her life to save her people. God would simply use someone else. Then she and her family would have faded into history and we would have heard nothing about her. But what if everything that had happened in her life had led her up to that moment? To that call on her life?
​

God gave each of us free will. We can refuse our call. Will that make God’s plan fall apart? No. Remember that God’s plan is perfect. Someone else will fill the gap. God’s plan will go on without us.
​

If we don’t answer our call, we are the loser. The one without blessing. The one who regrets. 

God calls each of us who have accepted the Salvation of Christ. Save my people. Spread the good news of my gospel. Spread seeds of faith that I will water and cause to bloom and grow. Shine my truth like a light in the darkness and save humanity before it is too late.

We are not all like Billy Graham. But maybe, we are like a dedicated Sunday school teacher who cared enough to visit a young man in the stockroom where he worked. Maybe you can speak to a person you work with. In the waiting room at the doctor’s office. Or the person behind you at that long line in the grocery store. As hard as it is, maybe you can speak to your own sister and brother. Our family members are the hardest.

2 Timothy 1:9 9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

God is calling you. Remember that the seeds you sow will affect generations. Maybe, just maybe, you were placed right where you are for such a time as this.
