Peace in the Eye of the StormIn the past months, we have been tossed life a leaf in a hurricane. Fear and anxiety are fed to us on a daily basis and we consume it like chocolate. Instead of turning to God for His promised peace, we sit with our eyes glued to the news on tv, and morbidly drink doom and gloom until we can think of nothing else. Why?

God's Plan; Our CallOur God has a plan that stretches from before creation to eternity. It is a massive strategic plan that we cannot begin to understand. Because God exists outside of time, He knows the beginning, the middle, and the end of humanity’s story. His plan was executed in the very beginning, when God said, “Let there be light.” And It was ordained that Jesus, who is the Light, would come to save the world from sin and darkness. This was before man was even created. God was prepared for man’s fall. God’s plan is perfect.

I am a Friend of JesusI have always loved to study and research. Of the books, which fill shelves, tables, and every available corner of my home, there are many more non-fiction than fiction. It fills me with Joy to study and teach God’s Word. I understand, with all my heart, that studying God’s Word is the difference in being a friend to Jesus and being a mere acquaintance.

Simple, Child-Like Faith"You know me." Simple, child-like faith. I wonder how many of us feel we could say this to God and believe it. A relationship with God requires that God know us and we know him. It also requires child-like faith. Sometimes, it is difficult to believe in eternity when we are struggling with stress, self-doubt, or great pain. We must have faith that a God whom we cannot see hears our prayers and knows who we are.

Angels Among Us
Surprisingly, many people who profess not to believe in God still believe in angels. We are comforted by the idea that angels are there in an emergency to warn us, protect us, and battle evil for us. There is more than one popular song to give us goosebumps, and, along with heart-warming movies, they assure us that angels are real.

Cold CoffeeGod gave me the wonderful gift of writing. I started when I was about 9 filling pages and notebooks with my stories. Of course, I had no idea then, that He had a divine plan for my gift. I spend a lot of time on my laptop. Bible studies. Blogging. Newsletters. If I am not writing, I am researching. I make a cup of hot coffee, take a couple of swallows and start work. I become absorbed in what I am doing, and time passes unnoticed.

Take Up Your CrossI agreed that we must trust Him and hurried out the door after my daughter. Once in the car, my daughter asked if I knew who the man was. No, I did not recognize him. She told me he was “the man who carries the cross.” I had to ask her to repeat it twice because I did not understand what she meant. She told me his story. (I will not print the story here. It is his and not mine to tell.) In trust of God, through a difficult time, this man literally, physically, built a wooden cross and began to carry it all over town. More than a year later, he still carries the cross.

Where to PraySince the critically acclaimed and soul-stirring premiere of the movie, ”War Room,” Christians across the nation have been rushing to create their own prayer closet. It is a beautiful concept. Maybe you are lucky to have a large, walk-in closet that you don’t need for storage or things like, you know, clothes.

30 Truths for the Christian Wife. . .We have all met them--that couple who has been married for an indeterminable amount of years and still seem to be madly in love. What is their secret? Does he still bring her candy and flowers? Possibly. Yet, in most cases, it is more in the way the woman treats her husband that has a direct reflection on their happiness and the way he in return treats her.
God created Soul Mates. Because of the shortcomings of our human nature, His Word very clearly teaches couples how they are to treat one another. |
Changes AheadChristians have always faced mockers. America, however, has always been free from the hardcore persecution meted out in other parts of the planet. Most of us have lived in our own little world. We read our Bible, go to church and live our lives oblivious to the changes. Yet, anyone with half a brain can tell you that times are most certainly changing and with ever-increasing speed.

Is Forgiveness Necessary? When we are young children, we are taught, even if grudgingly, to apologize for our transgressions. In my own family, I remember these ranged from stealing a piece of penny candy to punching a sibling in the face.
Isn’t it strange that we do not teach our children to forgive? Shouldn’t we put as much emphasis on forgiveness as apologies? |
